Sinclair's story
When I started my own business Reverse Design, it wasn't just a brand new start in launching my own business for the first time that seemed appealing. It was also - due to relocating to Lincolnshire from London - a fresh break for me and my family as we discovered a great new lifestyle.
Not many people know that Lincolnshire is the third biggest county in England. There are lots of small businesses here, as well as a lot of big food companies and agricultural firms. This offers a lot of untapped potential for my branding and green marketing consultancy, and I really felt that I could give a lot of companies advice and experience that they probably haven’t had access to before.
Before setting up on my own, I’d worked in some of London’s top design agencies for over 20 years - working on big brands like Diagio, Rolls Royce and Severn Trent. A highlight was winning a European Design award for my work for the London Business School, helping it put its name up there with the likes of Harvard. But it was time to move on..
For a lot of companies in this area, having access to the big agencies is unthinkable.
As I realised I’d be in a unique position to offer them affordable marketing and design knowledge, the Lincolnshire move seemed more and more attractive. I have very low overheads, and can provide a very close and personable service.
I also really enjoy giving start-ups and small to medium-sized companies all the help they need to establish themselves in the marketplace.
Of course, it took me a while to establish myself when I was setting out too, and I found BT Tradespace very useful. It offers you an easy and quick way to get an online presence and reach a much wider range of people. But to get the most out of it, it’s essential to get involved. Join the discussions and share your knowledge, and you’ll not only reap the rewards in being a trusted and respected tradespacer, you’ll get more and more attention for your business.
